Our decorative lettering and embellishments are quick and easy to apply, allowing you to transform your rooms in minutes. It’s so simple and the results are so dramatic, it will seem almost magical.
Here’s how—
Your Uppercase Living Expression Comes in three layers:
- Top Layer = Transfer Tape
This is the slightly transparent masking tape like layer that is placed over the top of the decorative expression.
- Middle Layer = Decorative Lettering
This is the actual lettering that will remain on the wall when installation is complete.
- Bottom Layer = Backing Paper
This is the thick paper that the decorative expression is positioned on.
After applying your expression to the wall, you will discard both the transfer tape and the backing paper. They are used only for installation purposes.
Step 1 – Prepare Your Wall
Wash your wall with a mild household cleaner. Rinse and dry the wall completely.
Decide where you want the horizontal and vertical centers of your expression to be placed and lightly pencil small guidelines on your wall. (Place these guidelines so that they will be visible to the left, right, and top of your expression as you position it on the wall.)
Step 2 – Prepare Your Decorative Lettering
Unroll your expression. (It may need to lay flat in a warm area until it no longer curls.)
Lay your expression on a table or other smooth surface (so that you can read your expression).
Rub over the entire surface of your expression with a UL Transfer Tool (or credit card). This will ensure that the expression adheres to the transfer tape.
Place a yardstick or other straight edge on your expression and line it up with the point of the arrows on the left and right sides of your expression. With the yardstick in place, pencil a line that runs from the left side to the right side of your expression (going all the way to the edges of the transfer tape). This guideline will later match up to the guidelines you have penciled on the wall.
Step 3 – Position and Tape Decorative Lettering
Line the top arrow up with the center mark you placed on the wall earlier. Line the left and right arrows up with the small guidelines you placed on the wall earlier.
With the expression in the desired position, place small pieces of painter’s tape along the top of edge of your expression. These pieces of tape act as “hinges” and should be placed approximately every six inches.
Step 4 – Remove Backing Paper
Flip your expression up and slowly peel backing paper away from the transfer tape, taking care not to touch the adhesive on the expression itself. (The expression will adhere to the sticky transfer tape. The backing paper will be blank.)
Carefully lay the expression back down into position on the wall and smooth the entire surface.
Step 5 – Burnish Your Expression
Using a UL Transfer Tool (or credit card), firmly rub the entire expression, giving special attention to the edges of each letter or embellishment.
Step 6 – Remove Transfer Tape
Slowly peel the transfer tape from the wall.
Remove the arrows from the wall and erase your guidelines.
Step 7 – Enjoy!
Find your favorite spot in the room, sit down, and enjoy your expression!
